STATEMENT BY DELTA (TWO) LIMITED REGARDING J SAINSBURY PLC
Delta (Two) Limited ("Delta") confirms that it acquired yesterday an interest relating to 302,013,241 shares in J Sainsbury Plc (the "Company"). This equates to an interest of 17.406% in the issued share capital of the Company. This interest was acquired through a total return swap, under the terms of which Delta may elect for physical delivery of the shares.
Together with the interest of 300,000 shares in the Company held by His Excellency Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jaber Al Thani (who is deemed to be acting in concert with Delta), Delta has an interest in 302,313,241 shares in the Company. This equates to an interest of 17.424% in the issued share capital of the Company.
Percentages (rounded to three decimal places) in this disclosure have been calculated using the issued share capital number (1,735,061,459) as at 5 April 2007, as disclosed on the Company's website on 26 April 2007.
